Dr. Koong, the current Sue and Bob McCollum Professor at Stanford University, is an internationally recognized physician-scientist in the tumor microenvironment field. His laboratory was one of the first to implicate a critical role for the UPR in cancer. He is a co-founder of Aravive and has had a long-standing interest in understanding the role of the tumor microenvironment in tumor progression and resistance to cancer therapy. He has published over 180 scholarly articles in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters. He is board certified in radiation oncology and is the principal investigator of multiple prospective cancer clinical trials. He earned his PhD in Cancer Biology from Stanford University and his MD from Northwestern University.
