Summary of Position:

The Sr. Director, Program Management is accountable for multi-disciplinary planning and execution of Aravive’s drug development programs. The Sr. Director works closely with senior leadership, operational colleagues, and other stakeholders in a matrix environment to drive progress on development plans, assess and mitigate risks, track progress on deliverables, and ensure milestones are achieved on-time and on budget.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Creating and maintaining the overall development plan and timeline for each program
  • Managing development team meetings, communications, agendas, and action items.
  • Coordinating development team operations and ensuring accountability to deliver on time and on budget
  • Leading the development team in continuous identification and proactive management of project risks
  • Ensuring awareness of project interdependencies and potential impacts of strategic decisions

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent Project Management Skills with ability to balance speed, quality, risk and cost while driving execution
  • Effective communication skills with ability to tailor messages to various audiences, including senior leadership
  • Ability to solve complex problems and manage difficult situations.
  • Strong knowledge of commonly used project management tools including but not limited to Microsoft project.
  • Detail oriented and able to lead the development of critical path analyses and scenario planning.
  • Ability to lead matrix teams and effectively influence without authority
  • Ability to travel

Qualifications:

Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Physical sciences, or other relevant discipline., MS/Ph.D. preferred.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in biotech/pharmaceutical industry, including 5 years in project/portfolio management or leadership of cross-functional matrix teams.
  • 7+ years of management and supervisory experience
  • Strong and proven experience in budget management
  • Medical and scientific knowledge strongly preferred
